Worlds Biggest Off Shore Windfarm Approved

In a recent development intended to showcase British investment in green energy, development consent has been granted for the world’s biggest off-shore wind farm off the coast of Lincolnshire and Norfolk.

The planning inspectorate for the development deemed it to be a ‘nationally significant infrastructure project’

A panel of three examining inspectors were given the task of assessing the evidence put to them by interested parties. The proposed development includes plans for 288 turbine developments, which is in addition to the 240 turbines being planned by the Atlantic Array offshore windfarm in the Bristol Channel. Britain seems to be leading the way when it comes to sourcing energy from windfarms – the current largest project is off the coast of Kent and is a 1000 megawatt development known as The London Array.
